The Clout.

ree

I remember when I first met God and felt His force upon me.

His words and His vision were so clear that I was amazed at what was coming for me in the near future.

Everything He showed me came to light in such a short amount of time. While I was following Him and walking His path, my classes were selling out, people were being inspired to follow what was on their hearts, and the showcase was the grand finale coming up.

In the midst of all that, a man stopped me one regular day while I was just handling my tasks. He said, “What happened to you? Why aren’t you doing anything? You’re not on any dance teams anymore? I expected more from you.”

I chuckled and said, “You don’t see what I’m doing?” Before I even got to explain myself, I brushed it off and said, “I’m doing big things. See ya later, big head!”

I believe God is reminding me of that moment because things like this still happen today. Parents, lovers, and even friends have their own vision of you.

And hate to burst their bubble—but God has already given us a different plan.

One we can’t stop building.

One that requires sacrifice.

One that often makes us give up the things that look good.

Dance makes me look good.

Corporate makes me look good.

But building this brand? It makes me look broke, lost, and—like my mom would say—a “broken artist.”

But here’s the news of the day:

That same guy said all that when I was selling out classes!

When my face was plastered all around the school for the showcase!

That means if we’re waiting for people to “see it”… we’ll be waiting a lifetime.

Even when I’m wealthy, someone will still say,

“I expected more from you in dance,”

or “I expected you to be the head of Porsche (my current corporate job,”

or “I expected you to be the next Aliyah Janell.”

Well, Sistah—

I expect me to follow God every step of the way.

I expect us to quiet the noise and know the difference between working for God and working for man.

Amen? Amen.

P.S. Working for man will have you overcompensating just to look good.

Working for God, on the other hand, will lead you on a straight path to greatness — no overcompensating, no greed, just pure focus, grit, purpose, and determination.

Follow His vision, and wait on His outcome!

You got this Sistah!
