My Credit is Climbing — Even in the Middle of the Mess!

I’m up 62 points using the Kickoff app.
No fluff, no fancy financial planner —Just a simple app that allows me to pay $35 a month while they work their magic. This is not an ad, ladies. Let me tell you why I’m sharing this — and a little background on how I ended up in this sticky situation.
When you’re low on funds or going through hardship, fixing your credit can feel like a scam — like something that’ll only dig you deeper into a financial hole. But luckily, we learn from our lessons.
About four years ago, I was in a similar situation. I took a chance on a credit-building app that helped me raise my score from the 400s to the 700s. That experience taught me one thing — consistency works. When you commit to steady payments, no matter how small, the results follow.
Fast forward to today — when I saw the Kickoff App ad on Instagram, I didn’t hesitate. Nothing about it felt sketchy. The monthly cost is affordable — $5, $20, or $35 — and those numbers are perfect for my budget.
Now, four months later, I’m up 62 points! Some might think that’s nothing, but here’s the big deal:
My car was stolen and crashed, and because I only had liability insurance, the company took it back — repossession (which destroys your credit because they still report missed payments). On top of that, my student loans are sky-high, and we all know those are hitting our credit now. Yikes! (And no, I haven’t started repayment yet — but I plan to soon.)
So you see, sistah — my Kickoff app is working magic even while I’m still in the middle of my situation. I had given up hope because of my debt, but with Kickoff, I’m finally seeing progress again — without the pressure of my credit sinking further.
My Takeaway:
Credit repair isn’t about perfection — it’s about movement. You don’t have to be debt-free to see change; you just have to start where you are and be consistent with the right strategies!
Challenge for You:
Check your credit score this week. Ask yourself: What’s one small move I can make this month to improve it? Whether it’s downloading an app like Kickoff, setting up auto-pay, or paying off a small balance — just start. Let’s build better habits and better credit, together.
